Secret Pass
I love this painting and the feelings it evokes. When it was finished I just could not believe it! Look at what happened right in the middle of the painting. In my typical style of pulling around paint with a credit card and using a lot of water in the process I just lost control of this one. In the end I like the break in the cliffs and the great values that come through at the same time. The colors were surprising to me too! I put some blue in just below the drop-off and I think it adds to the painting. One great aspect is the slopping of water off a brush in droplets that definitely make it unique. I wanted the foreground to come closer so I added hint of an orange-red ink to a couple of places. At the same time I used some black ink in the right quantity to allow it to be pulled sideways with the plastic card and give the effect of a stacked rock formation. This is one of my favorite paintings!
